Q: Who are you?
A: My name is Molly
I’m a freelance make up artist from Iowa, cosmetic chemist student, and licensed cosmetologist.
Q: Why didn’t my comment get approved?
A: I do not approve comments of people trying to sell a cosmetic or hair product — if your comment came across that way, I probably deleted it. I pay for this blog, and unless you want to pay for advertising space, I’m not going to let you do so.
Q: I want you to review ______ product, will you?
A: I would love to take inquiries for products to review, in order to do so please e-mail me at molly.loretta@gmail.com. If you’re a company with a product that you would like to send me for review, it would be helpful if you would e-mail me as well. Please note I will never lie about how I feel about a particular product. I’ll state why I do or don’t like the product, which either way is helpful to my readers, and the company selling it if they’re ever in the mood to reformulate and better their products. I don’t like to sell things I don’t love.
Q: What type of skincare do you use?
A: I enjoy using:
Make-Up Remover — Vaseline.
Cleanser — Olay’s Sensitive Skin cleanser (in the tube) and also Olay Blemish Fighting cleanser (pump).
Toner — Nada. I don’t think toner is necessary. Cosmetologists, don’t yell at me. I’m a cosmo too! Problem is is that my skin is far too sensitive, and many toners contain incredibly irritating ingredients.
Moisturizer — Olay Complete Sensitive Skin moisturizer with SPF 15. Either formula, I like both.
Q: Where did you learn to do hair/make up?
A: Capri Cosmetology school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. However, for my cosmetic skills I’ve learned most by practice, practice, practice! I don’t think school for cosmetics is necessary as long as you hone your skills the best you can.
Q: What type of hair color do you use/recommend?
A: I personally am only a fan of professional hair color. I use Pravana and Joico nearly everything; they have such a wide array of colors it’s easy to find something for everyone through them. For demi-permanent I love Redken Shades.
Q: Why don’t you recommend box color?
A: Here is a blog I wrote explaining this dilemma I have with box color: Why use professional haircolor?
Q: What kind of cosmetics do you use?
A: I use so many different things, but I’ll happily share my basics!
Primer – Urban Decay mattifying primer.
Foundation – Mirabella Full Coverage Foundation. It’s more medium coverage, though. It looks GREAT on the skin!
Concealer – I almost never use it, to be honest. Maybelline Superstay 24/7 is great.
Powder — Bed Head Glamma powder.
Blush/Bronzer — Blush: Hard Candy in Living Doll, Bronzer: Hard Candy in Hula Hula
Eyeliner — Revlon Colorstay pencil liners. Doesn’t budge at ALL!
Mascara — Cover Girl Lash Blash Fusion.
Eyeshadow — Really, whatever has the color I want for that purpose, but Ben Nye, Bed Head, Sugarpill, and Urban Decay are my automatic go-tos ![]()
Eyeshadow base — Honestly I’ve been using the NYX eyeshadow base and it’s working wonderfully!
Eyebrows — NYX or Maybelline brow pencils.
Lipcolor — I always switch it up, but my typical colors are as follows; OCC Lip Tar in Memento, Victoria’s Secret Lipstick in VIP, typically layered over Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in Beloved, and MAC lipstick in Hue and OCC Lip Tar in Hush. I also love MAC Snob, and OCC Lip Tars in Divine and Anime. Then MAC Rags To Riches, Extra Amps and Sugarrimmed Dazzleglasses.
Lipliner — Whatever is cheap and works. I’ve pretty much only been using clear lipliner and I’m not particular, as long as it’s clear.
Q: What are your favorite perfumes?
A: My favorites are Victoria’s Secret Love Rocks (body spray and perfume), Lolita Lempicka, and Intimately Beckham. I also like the Victoria’s Secret Amber Romance body spray if I’m just around the house, and any of the above layer wonderfully over it.
Q: Do I have to use the same products you do in your tutorials?
A: No! You can use similar colors, or create the same look using all different colors for a fun variation (which I would love to see, so please e-mail me pictures!). There is a plethora of brands out there, and I know coming from Iowa, not all brands are available everywhere. Use what works for you!
Q: Did you get the item you reviewed/used in tutorial for free?
A: Any items I received for free from a company I will first review before using in tutorials, and I will disclose in the review whether or not I received it for free. Regardless, I don’t do paid reviews, and I won’t use anything in a tutorial I don’t like. Please also keep in mind, as a professional cosmetologist I do receive a discount on most beauty products I purchase myself from various companies. This is something I do have to apply for and provide my professional cosmetology license, business card, and other required credentials, and I do use this to my advantage when purchasing products.
