Product Review: Banana Boat Ultra Defense Sunscreen

It’s that time again — summer, and with the long hours you bet that someone as fair-skinned as myself has to wear sunscreen just to go get the mail (and my mailbox is attached to the side of my house)!
I looked far and wide for a sunscreen that met my personal needs.
- Non-greasy formula. If I have to wear this everyday all day, I don’t want to feel nasty walking around in it. It has to feel natural, maybe like a lotion, so that I can deal with it throughout the day.
- None of that disgusting sunscreen smell. Because, well, nevermind it’s obvious.
- High SPF. The longer the stuff lasts wearing it, the better!
- Easily absorbed with skin conditioners.
- Sweat proof.

And guess what? I found it! Right in a little package called Banana Boat’s Ultra Defense Sunscreen with SPF 50. I had read some about it online, and I’ve used Banana Boat products in the past — I know that they work well. So I figured I’d stick to a brand that’s been reliable to me. Pick up the bottle -sniff sniff- and none of that disgusting smell that typically gets exuded by most sunscreens.
Well, that fits most of my needs. So I picked it up and brought it home. Applied it after showering…. I can’t even tell that I’m wearing sunscreen. Not in the “crap, I got burnt” type of way, but in the “holy cow my skin still feels like skin!” kind of way.
Plus, SPF 50? Who knew!
Today was the perfect day to test it, considering that it’s 90+ degrees outside, and extremely humid (we have a heat warning in effect for tomorrow, too!). Guess what? No gross runniness. No gross sunscreen feeling.
Just skin. My skin.
I’m shocked by how thrilled I am. This is incredibly worth buying. The price is around $10, and that’s not bad for some good sun protection! I would recommend this to anyone, and everyone. Not lying. You should probably go buy it. I’m not sure I’ve ever encountered a sunscreen I’ve liked more. In fact, I’m pretty positive I haven’t.
I guarantee a repurchase on this!
For the record, in the summer I also wear sunscreen on my face. I use Oil of Olay’s moisturizer for sensitive skin with SPF. Best facial moisturizer with sunscreen I’ve ever used, and it’s light weight so it’s great for oily skin! Never makes me feel gross — even after a day in the heat! And you can SWIM in it without it burning your eyes! BONUS!

That’ll be my next try- I got the Coppertone Nutrashield because I wanted something with antioxidants in it. Not only did it have that grimy-greasy-powdery feel, it stained my clothes yellow!

Gross…. That’s why I hate almost ALL sunscreens. This stuff is seriously GREAT. I’ve had it on since early this afternoon, and it still doesn’t feel nasty at all on my skin. It’s so waterproof it took me a couple washes with soap to even get it off my palms!

You aren’t alone.
When I returned from a sailing trip, all my favorite shirts (and a few pairs of socks) were stained red and it does not wash out! Product was Banana Boat Ultra Defense spf 50 spray. Unacceptable.
For a good product, I’ve used Coppertone Sport Spray spf 50. Goes on dry (like powder, no smell, no stains.
